Erik Thedéen and Anna Breman to participate in G20 during the South African Presidency

Press release Sweden has been invited to participate in the G20 by the South African Presidency in 2025. The Riksbank will participate together with the Ministry of Finance in the G20 Finance Track. Under this track, finance ministers and central bank governors discuss key economic and political issues.

During the year, the South African Presidency will organise four meetings at ministerial and governor level. The first meeting, which will take place in Cape Town from 24-27 February, will be attended by Governor Erik Thedéen and First Deputy Governor Anna Breman, together with Minister for Finance Elisabeth Svantesson.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to participate in this international forum. It allows us to participate in discussions on global economic issues and the state of the world economy. It feels particularly important at this time to strengthen Sweden's voice internationally and build relationships," says Erik Thedéen.

The G20 is a global international forum composed of 19 countries, plus the EU and the African Union (AU). Sweden's invitation to participate as a guest country during South Africa's Presidency provides an opportunity to take part in the group's discussions on economic and political development and cooperation to implement global commitments, such as the UN's 2030 Agenda.
