The countercyclical capital buffer should remain unchanged at 2 per cent

The Riksbank considers that the countercyclical buffer rate should remain unchanged at its positive neutral level of 2 per cent for the second quarter of 2025.

In Sweden, Finansinspektionen is responsible for the countercyclical capital buffer as part of its macroprudential responsibilities and it is required to set the countercyclical buffer rate every quarter. Legislation provides the Riksbank with the opportunity to comment before Finansinspektionen makes a decision on the buffer rate. Today, the Riksbank participated in a collaborative meeting at Finansinspektionen and communicated its position for the second quarter of 2025.
